Are your social media posts not getting the engagement you were hoping for? Ask yourself these three questions; are you posting and ghosting? What posts are you commenting on/ liking? Have you started any new conversations?
If you don’t have clear answers to these questions or are leaning towards, yes, none, and none, we have found the issue! Good news, we also have the solution to fixing it.
The easy answer is, that you must engage with OTHER PEOPLE to increase your post’s engagement. The best place to start is with the original three questions; post and ghosting, commenting and liking other creators’ work, and starting conversations.
Posting and Ghosting
The biggest sin you can make on social media is posting and ghosting. If you’re unfamiliar with the term ‘ghosting’, it refers to disappearing after taking action. In this example, we mean taking the time to post a video, picture, or reel to your page but then leaving the app instead of sticking around to answer comments, reaching out to people who liked your post, or connecting with pages that fall in your niche. BAD, BAD, BAD! Instead, carve out 10-15 minutes to engage with other users on the platform after you have posted. It will not only help bring a personal touch to your brand but it will also boost your post to more people and bring more engagement to your post!
Engage FIRST!!
Do you want more engagement? Then take time to engage with others!! Think of it this way, you will receive what you put out there so take the time to comment and like other pages or potential customer’s posts. This means finding pages or users that make sense for your brand (potential customers or businesses in your niche) and making the time to like their posts and leaving MEANINGFUL comments. Meaningful comments are defined as questions or comments that add to the conversation. Stay away from comments such as; ‘fire’. ‘Amazing’, or anything that only includes an emoji. This can be time-consuming but it is always worth it.
Start the conversation
The final step of improving your engagement is leaving users a direct message. Shoot them a DM letting them know you enjoy their content and want to connect. Build that network by putting in some work! Just because it is online doesn’t mean you can’t show them you are a real person who is looking to connect on a deeper level.
If you are at fault for posting and ghosting or not carving out time to engage or start a conversation, it’s okay. There is still time to change your ways! Take our advice, try these three suggestions, and watch how your post engagement improves!
