This blog has been something I have put off for quite some time. I know the importance of blogs and I am passionate about giving out as much free education as I can. However, there is limited time as a small business owner. I have hired some help, and I am ready to add this to my workflow. Let me tell you why I am starting a blog!

1. Blogs help your website’s search engine optimization. Having a blog keeps your website up-to-date and fresh. Google will rank you higher if it is clear you have up-to-date information. It is not realistic to update your homepage regularly, so having a blog lets the algorithm know your site is still active. Writing a blog also helps you target SEO optimized long-tail keywords. That is just a very confusing way of saying, adding words relevant to your business in your blog will help you rank on Google.
2. It is important to share information. I know many small business owners cannot afford a social media manager. A goal I set when I first started this agency was to help as many businesses as I can no matter the size. The best way for me to do that is give out all the tools you need to successfully manage your own social media pages.
3. I can improve my own writing skills. As a social media manager I am a writer, graphic designer, community manager, videographer, photographer, video editor, content creator, and so much more. It is important to me that I am always improving upon all of my skills to best serve my clients. Considering most of the writing I do is short form captions, this will be a great exercise for me to hone my writing chops.
4. Blogging helps build community. Our social media agency does not care about numbers as much as we care about the community. The most important thing we do is help clients build genuine online communities filled with people who participate and care. I believe having a blog allows your following to get to know you better. It also gives them a different way to engage with you!
